A new short story by Carol Campbell. Here’s a review from an area editor:
Seed People” gets into your system, the further you read the more intense the verisimilitude. What does this mean? Three points: 1) the sisterhood among the three friends shows the verisimilitude in living color; 2) the narrator Charlene’s expressive openness to psychic insight reveals inward depth; and 3) readers access the truth of women’s agency through Charlene and her contact with Rhonda.
Reading “Seed People” is a story for women, but also for men. Perhaps the latter would then see the inner strength of a woman like Charlene, and beyond this, they might realize that a sisterhood watches out for each other. No reader would deny this truth upon reading the last scene when Layla is tied up in a room and her sisterhood rescues her.
